Aalto University Professional Development (Aalto PRO) and the Finnsecurity Association have named Chief Security Officer Rauno Hammarberg from Wärtsilä as Security Manager of the Year. The award, which were presented at the 25th anniversary celebrations of the Diploma in Safety and Security Management Program, is the first of its kind. The award is granted to an accomplished manager who promotes safety and security expertise in Finland.
“Rauno Hammarberg meets all the criteria: he has worked in demanding management positions, actively promoted the strategic position of safety and security management within organizations, and has engaged in developing expertise in the industry,” summarizes one of the jury members, Senior Program Manager Anna-Maija Ahonen from Aalto PRO.
Before joining Wärtsilä, Hammarberg held similar positions in companies such as Nokia and VR. Alongside his regular job, he has acted as a steering group member, trainer and thesis supervisor for the Diploma in Safety and Security Management Program for a number of years. In addition, Hammarberg has been a driving force and award-winning member of the Advisory Board for Corporate Security Management of the Confederation of Finnish Industries (EK), for example. He has therefore strongly promoted Finnish corporate security management in key business-life forums.
“We have several awards in our industry that focus on security. The new security management award highlights the strategically important and demanding role of Chief Security Officer, and how important an understanding of comprehensive security is to the success of an organization,” says Joona Vuorenpää, Executive Director of Finnsecurity.
The jury consisted of Senior Program Manager Anna Maija Ahonen and Business Area Director Anita Vastamäki from Aalto PRO, Executive Director Joona Vuorenpää and Chairman Arto Kangas of the Finnsecurity Association, and Mika Susi, Chief Policy Adviser/Corporate Security of the Confederation of Finnish Industries.
