With this program, Aalto EE’s impact on Finnish society continues to strengthen. This far the company’s programs have provided training for thousands of directors and executives of public organizations.

“Societal impact is in the core of our mission. Where else could we find more direct impact than in contributing to the development of public sector leaders. The rapid growth of the metropolitan area creates both challenges and opportunities that require ambitious leadership,” explains Dr. Pekka Mattila, Group Managing Director for Aalto EE.

Leaders who understand the needs of the future

The city of Espoo has been named the Most Intelligent Community of the Year 2018 as the first Scandinavian city. The nomination is done by the Intelligent Community Forum (ICF).

Espoo aims at being a responsible and humane pioneer city, providing an excellent environment for living, studying, working and doing business, creating genuine opportunities for residents to influence and participate in the development of their city.

According to Mayor Jukka Mäkelä, the strategic goals of the city must translate into meeting the challenges of growth and change in ways that are financially, ecologically, socially, and culturally sustainable.

“To succeed in this, we must also continuously develop and renew our leadership. Aalto Executive MBA has exceeded the expectations of Espoo”, Mäkelä states. Espoo enters the Executive MBA program in order to reinforce strategic leadership and executive capability in a changing and growing city.

Together, the leaders of Espoo city have defined four core leadership values for their city: resident and customer focus, everyday process fluency, responsible innovation, and continuous development as leaders and experts.
